Return of the Monster Men (Edgar Rice Burroughs Universe)

The primary strength of this collection lies in its historical significance and direct connection to Edgar Rice Burroughs' original creative vision. By providing an authorized sequel, it satisfies a long-standing desire among purists for canonical expansion rather than mere fan fiction. The inclusion of the Carson of Venus novelette adds substantial value, offering a distinct tonal shift that complements the main horror narrative. While the pacing may feel traditional to contemporary readers, the prose effectively captures the atmospheric tension characteristic of early 20th-century weird fiction. It is best suited for dedicated Burroughs scholars and those who appreciate the intersection of gothic horror and speculative adventure.
