Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. If you like this kind of cooking, don't hesitate.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Solid, if not essential.
This has been on my wishlist for months. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Still worth having on the shelf.
Finally got around to ordering this. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. Five stars from me.
Finally got around to ordering this. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Glad I finally picked this up.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
