Was skeptical at first. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. If you like this kind of cooking, don't hesitate.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. One of my better finds this year.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. The font runs small in this edition.
