Needed a good scare and got one. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Glad I finally picked this up.
Finally got around to ordering this. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. One of my better finds this year.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Solid, if not essential.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. A keeper.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Happy enough with the purchase.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Solid, if not essential.
First order from this shop. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Good, with the caveats above.
