It is an excellent resource for scholars and fans of classic gothic fiction who value the original text’s cultural importance. However, it does not suit readers seeking modern horror techniques or non-fiction analysis. The content remains relevant through its status as a primary source rather than contemporary entertainment. Those expecting novel-length plots may find the structure challenging, as it is organized strictly as a collection of short stories. Genuinely scary

Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Great value for what you get.

Almost perfect

Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. The cover feels thinner than expected. Solid, if not essential.

A friend from my book club recommended it. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. Shipping was quick too.

Wanted something for October and it delivered. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. One of my better finds this year.
