⭐ Reader reviews

A friend from my book club recommended it. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Good, with the caveats above.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one.
Needed a good scare and got one. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. My only quibble is that the middle third sags a little. Good, with the caveats above.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. Good introduction if you have not read this author before.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. The font runs small in this edition. Happy enough with the purchase.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Happy enough with the purchase.
