Fox effectively merges the procedural elements of detective fiction with the atmospheric dread of gothic horror. The premise of a secret society hunting humans under moon control offers a fresh twist on traditional werewolf lore by grounding it in organized, medieval-led aggression. The contrast between modern investigative techniques and ancient terror drives the narrative tension successfully. While it may disappoint readers seeking factual medieval history or lighthearted supernatural stories, it delivers a sharp focus on dominant figures and their savage tactics. This balance of mythic scale and urban grit makes it a solid choice for dedicated fans of dark fantasy.
