It is an ideal choice for readers seeking primary sources on monster mythology or those analyzing the evolution of horror fiction from its early nineteenth-century origins. However, it does not suit those seeking modern psychological thrillers, contemporary romance, or fast-paced action sequences. The pacing is deliberate, and the language reflects its age, avoiding updated styles. While it provides critical access to the source material for Victor Frankenstein’s creation, readers expecting immediate gratification or modern slang may find the tone distant and the structure less engaging than contemporary adaptations.

Dread done right

Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. Definitely recommend.

First order from this shop. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Solid, if not essential.

Almost perfect

I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. The font runs small in this edition.
