📚 WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT

A satirical novel about a dead 80s pop star fighting for relevance in an undead world.

Rita Venus navigates a society where death is no longer final but remains strictly stratified by wealth. As one of the few remaining warm-bloods, she witnesses the rise of the undead elite who control the planet. Her personal crisis involves managing her failing career and sobriety while trying to impact the political landscape. Bennett uses Rita’s perspective to critique modern celebrity culture through a supernatural lens. The narrative does not offer easy solutions or heroic triumphs. Instead, it presents a gritty look at survival in a world where the dead hold all the power and the living are merely fighting for existence.

📝 Description: Franken-Fatale

H J Bennett presents a satirical take on post-apocalyptic survival in Franken-Fatale. The narrative focuses on Rita Venus, a reanimated pop star from the 1980s who struggles with her fading career and the grim realities of a world overrun by the undead. Dr. Frankenstein’s method of reanimation allows everyone to return from death, yet only the wealthy can do so with style. This disparity forces the remaining living humans, referred to as warm-bloods, to fight for their future against a ruling undead class. The story follows Rita as she attempts to make a difference while dealing with personal failures and substance abuse. Bennett draws on gothic horror traditions and supernatural fiction tropes to explore themes of celebrity culture, class inequality, and the absurdity of eternal life. The book is organized around Rita’s traversal of this chaotic new society. It contains mature content including drugs, violence, sex, and language. Readers seeking gentle or family-friendly horror should avoid this title. Those interested in dark satire featuring a rock star protagonist will find it compelling.
