Final Girls
✍️ Riley SagerA thriller about survivors of a massacre hunted by their shared trauma.
Quincy Carpenter lives in the shadow of a horror movie-scale massacre that claimed five friends ten years ago. She is one of the few who walked away, joining an exclusive club of similar survivors. Her stability shatters when Lisa dies and Sam appears at her door. Sager uses this premise to explore the burden of being the last one standing. The narrative does not offer easy answers about why the killings stopped or if they will resume. It focuses on the isolation felt by those who cannot escape their history.
The book was published by Dutton in 2018. It sits within the contemporary horror and supernatural fiction market. The story reflects modern anxieties about media narratives and the lasting impact of violent events on individuals.

⭐ Reader reviews
Reader rating
Was skeptical at first. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Five stars from me.
Arrived quickly and well packaged. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. Well worth it.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real.
Finally got around to ordering this. The binding held up to being carried around for a week.
