📜 Historical context
Published in 1929 before Jackson’s literary fame, this thesis explores ancient accounts of supernatural phenomena within early Christian communities. It serves as a fascinating bridge between academic folklore studies and the author's later fictional mastery of dread. The work highlights how historical religious contexts shaped perceptions of the uncanny, influencing modern horror tropes regarding spirits and divine intervention.
