Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn.
Was skeptical at first. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Belongs in any working kitchen.
First order from this shop. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Five stars from me.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Highly recommend.
❓ Frequently asked questions
📖 Who should read this
Seekers of slow-burn psychological dread and atmospheric horror will thrive here, particularly those fascinated by the intersection of trauma and artistic creation. However, readers craving relentless action or traditional jump-scare ghost stories will likely find the deliberate pacing and internal focus too meditative and unsatisfying.
