📖 Why choose it
Why this book is worth reading
Readers interested in college life, murder mysteries, and cold cases will find this novel engaging due to its atmospheric setting and character-driven narrative. It suits those who enjoy supernatural fiction and gothic atmospheres, particularly the tension between personal friendship and chilling legacy. The story appeals to fans of small-town secrets and the emotional weight of unsolved violent crimes. However, readers seeking fast-paced action or non-fiction accounts of criminal investigations might find the slow burn less engaging. It is ideal for those who appreciate a blend of psychological depth and eerie, haunted environments rather than immediate thrills.

Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Shipping was quick too.
Grabbed it for a long flight. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. If you like this kind of cooking, don't hesitate.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. Good, with the caveats above.
A friend from my book club recommended it. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. It assumes some familiarity with the genre's tropes. Happy enough with the purchase.
This has been on my wishlist for months. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Happy enough with the purchase.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Great value for what you get.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Well worth it.
