Been meaning to get this one for a while. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Already eyeing my next order.
Was skeptical at first. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Still worth having on the shelf.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Belongs in any working kitchen.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Highly recommend.
