Clive Barker and Haemi Jang present a graphic novel about a man meeting God in the wasteland.
This collection gathers the initial installments of a serialized comic book series released by Boom! Studios. The story centers on Julian Demond, who leaves his corporate role to follow what he perceives as a divine calling. His journey intersects with Wick, a man claiming to be the deity himself. Together they traverse the globe, aiming to inflict deep wounds upon the world rather than simple changes. Barker’s background in horror informs the tone, while Jang’s art style complements the dark themes. The narrative avoids conventional religious comfort, instead offering a gritty encounter with the divine that challenges both characters and readers alike.
This work sits within the tradition of supernatural fiction and graphic novels. Barker is known for horror and gothic themes, while Jang has illustrated Hellraiser: The Road Below. Boom! Studios published this volume in 2014, placing it in the modern era of comic book storytelling that blends literary horror with visual art.

Wanted something for October and it delivered. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. The font runs small in this edition. Solid, if not essential.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Still worth having on the shelf.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks.
