Arrived quickly and well packaged. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Happy enough with the purchase.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. One of my better finds this year.
Grabbed it for a long flight. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Belongs in any working kitchen.
First order from this shop. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. The cover feels thinner than expected. Still worth having on the shelf.
This has been on my wishlist for months. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Well worth it.
❓ Frequently asked questions
📖 Who should read this
Scholars of Victorian verse and Poe enthusiasts will appreciate this archival glimpse. However, if you seek spine-chilling terror or original Poe compositions, look elsewhere. This is a mixed anthology of era-specific lyrics, not the dark gothic tales you expect from this famous name.
