📝 Description: Body of Work
Theatrical seamstress Victorine Albrecht is a woman on the edge when she tries to manage her demanding job, her on-off relationship with her boss, and her unfinished debut fashion line. She decides to blow off steam and signs up for a new dating site. When she matches with a guy named Guy, she thinks things might be looking up. When they go on their date, it ends in an alley with a tongue on the ground and everything going dark. Victorine's dismembered body parts wake up in various places around the city. They've got to find each other, come together, and figure out how to become Victorine again. If they don't, her killer will kill again. Plus, they each have got a real bone to pick with him. Will Victorine's body parts reunite to save her and avenge her death? Or will she be the first in a line of victims?

This title presents a peculiar hybrid of psychological unease and dark comedy, centering on Victorine Albrecht’s fragmented existence. By giving agency to severed limbs and organs, the story subverts traditional victimhood tropes, transforming horror into a quest for reunification and vengeance. The narrative effectively balances the absurdity of dating app mishaps with genuine stakes, maintaining tension through the urgency of preventing further deaths. It suits readers who prefer horror with wit and character-driven plots over pure gore. The focus on personal ambition and romantic entanglements grounds the supernatural elements in relatable human desires, making the horror feel intimate and immediate.
