📝 Description: Armada
In the remote South Pacific, the floating, Kaoa Hotel and Resort welcomes its first lucky guests for a five day, four night stay in a tropical paradise. What they find, however, is Hell on the high seas. A man of the sea, Alex Gregory is living the dream. Working on the Kaoa feels more like a permanent vacation than a real job. However, not long after the guests arrive, things begin to go wrong. The sea becomes unsafe as the first of the man-of-wars arrive on the scene. Physalia physalis, 10 to 30 centimeters long, not including their stinging tentacles, their stings are powerful but seldom deadly. Just when Alex thinks things can't get any worse, they get far, far worse when an unimaginable menace finds them. Physalia Maximus, Man-of-war Supreme. Two to three meters in size, this never before seen species is not bound to the sea, the land, or the air. They are calculating, vicious, and ravenous. They swarm by the hundreds. They are an armada of death... and their hunger will be satisfied.

The narrative effectively transforms a tropical paradise into a nightmare, leveraging the familiar comfort of a resort setting to heighten the horror. The transition from common man-of-wars to the monstrous Physalia Maximus creates a compelling sense of escalating dread. While the premise relies on biological exaggeration, it delivers the visceral impact expected by genre enthusiasts. The focus on isolation and swarm tactics taps into primal fears, making it suitable for readers who prefer immediate physical threats over psychological ambiguity. It succeeds in maintaining tension through relentless pacing and vivid imagery of the encroaching menace.
