📝 Description: Allus Cold
Leyshon returns with a catalog of uncollected body horror, lovecraftian surrealism, shipwrecks and other tales of weird fiction. His haunting prose sings shrills and shivers beside us, holding the dread tight so it won't escape our neighboring darkness. Matt Leyson's stories pulse with a dark lyricism that feels more unearthed than written. With echoes of Ligotti, Ballard, and the British folk horror tradition, Allus Cold is a raw and unflinching descent into the grotesque, told through prose that is equal parts brutal and beautiful. A strange, sharp, and deeply rooted read.-Philip LoPresti (author of Dark Country)

This collection delivers a potent mix of body horror and cosmic surrealism, anchored by prose that is both brutal and beautiful. Leyshon’s style echoes Ligotti and Ballard, creating an atmosphere of intense, lingering dread suitable for the horror-fiction shelf. It will likely alienate readers preferring accessible narratives or clear resolutions, as the work prioritizes unsettling tone over straightforward storytelling. Those accustomed to traditional ghost stories may find the lovecraftian and psychological elements too abstract or dense. It is a niche offering for enthusiasts of weird fiction who value linguistic precision and grotesque imagery over plot clarity.
