📝 Description: 69: A Short Novel of Cosmic Horror

Tim Meyer delivers a brief tale of cosmic dread set at Spring Lakes Assisted Living. It starts with seven seniors, all aged sixty-nine, who die under strange circumstances. Their bodies appear lifeless, yet their hearts beat and lungs breathe without reason. An unseen force drains energy from the living and the dead alike. Three CDC agents arrive to investigate but face a threat beyond human understanding. Meyer is known for titles like The Switch House and Kill Hill Carnage. He uses this confined setting to probe the thin line between existence and nothingness. The plot follows the investigators as they uncover a terrifying presence in the town. The fear comes from broken natural laws, not typical monsters. Fans of psychological horror and supernatural tales will appreciate it, while those wanting light fun or standard ghost stories might not.

Horror desk

Meyer excels at creating an unsettling atmosphere through the violation of natural laws rather than traditional gore or ghosts. The concept of biologically active corpses provides a fresh take on cosmic horror, grounding abstract dread in visceral imagery. While the plot may feel thin to some, the focus on existential terror and the behavior of unseen entities creates a persistent sense of unease. This book suits readers who enjoy psychological horror and intellectual challenges. It is less suitable for those seeking action-packed narratives or conventional ghost stories.
