This anthology targets connoisseurs of the bizarre and alien rather than casual genre fans. It suits readers who enjoy disorienting prose and psychological depth. However, it explicitly does not suit those seeking straightforward thrillers, clear resolutions, or accessible mainstream horror. The lack of plot summaries suggests a demand for trust in the authors' reputations. Casual readers may find the experience too abstract or demanding, as the value lies in the stylistic prowess of writers like Evenson and Strantzas, making it a niche purchase for dedicated enthusiasts of the weird.
