Finally got around to ordering this. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Glad I finally picked this up.
Grabbed it for a long flight. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. Great value for what you get.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. Happy enough with the purchase.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one.
Needed a good scare and got one. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid.
A friend from my book club recommended it. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
Not my usual subgenre but wanted to branch out. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with.
