Took a chance on it after reading the description here. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. Print is comfortable for late-night reading. If you like this kind of cooking, don't hesitate.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Highly recommend.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on.
Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. Five stars from me.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. One of my better finds this year.
