Arrived quickly and well packaged. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. Great value for what you get.
Bought this for my brother and ended up reading it first. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Belongs in any working kitchen.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. Some chapters are hard to read in the best possible way. The atmosphere builds slowly and then does not let go. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Good, with the caveats above.
First order from this shop. Slow burn, but the burn is the point.
Needed a good scare and got one. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Recommended with reservations.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with.
I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
