Horror desk

LeBlanc delivers a tightly focused sequel that prioritizes psychological tension over graphic excess. The protagonist’s background as an ex-FBI profiler adds credibility to the investigative aspects, grounding the horror in realistic procedural details. While the premise relies on familiar tropes of copycat killers and lingering trauma, the execution remains effective for genre enthusiasts. The book succeeds in maintaining suspense through Rebecca’s personal history with Dr. Monteiro, creating a sense of inevitable confrontation. It is best suited for readers who enjoy straightforward thrillers with a horror edge. Those seeking deep literary analysis may find it lacking, but fans of accessible, plot-forward suspense will likely find it a satisfying read that balances action with emotional resonance.
