Rag Doll Bones: A Northern Michigan Asylum Novel

J R Erickson delivers a atmospheric entry into the ghost story subgenre, leveraging the inherent terror of Northern Michigan’s wooded landscapes. The narrative effectively utilizes the asylum setting to amplify feelings of confinement and historical dread, creating a palpable sense of unease without relying on explicit violence. While the premise is familiar, the execution focuses heavily on mood and psychological tension, appealing to readers who prioritize atmosphere over plot complexity. It suits fans of classic Gothic horror and those interested in the intersection of natural isolation and institutional decay. The prose maintains a consistent tone of creeping dread, making it a solid choice for collectors of regional horror fiction and enthusiasts of the asylum genre.
