Wanted something for October and it delivered. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. Will be gifting a copy to a friend.
A friend from my book club recommended it. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
This has been on my wishlist for months. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Five stars from me.
Was skeptical at first. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. A keeper.
Ordered it for Halloween and it came in time. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Happy enough with the purchase.
