Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. The binding held up to being carried around for a week.
Grabbed it for a long flight. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Happy enough with the purchase.
This has been on my wishlist for months. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. One of my better finds this year.
Wanted something for October and it delivered. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. One of my better finds this year.
A friend from my book club recommended it. It is the kind of horror that rewards reading with the lights on. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. Five stars from me.

Seekers of Poe’s intellectual DNA and scholars of antebellum literary theory will adore this deep dive into his critical mind. However, if you crave atmospheric terror or plotted narratives, look elsewhere; this volume offers analysis, not the spooky tales you likely anticipate.
