'I Sacrifice, Therefore I Am follows Maria Espiritu, an unloved only daughter of an alcoholic father in the 21st century, as she tries to earn her father's love with significant personal cost and sacrifice. When she finds out that her father has taken Clarita, a woman the same age as her, as a lover, more complications and layers to her personal and familial history arise. She encounters strange dreams and flashes from the distant past-where she exists as a farm girl in the 19th century with a sister she's never had in this life and falls in love with an ilustrado-she realises she has lived an unloved life before and that there is more to her story than meets the eye. Maria must uncover the hidden patterns that resulted in her suffering in this life and the last. She must make the decision to stop the cycle from repeating and break the curse at last, even if it means sacrificing something she never thought she would.
