Santos delivers a claustrophobic tale where the true horror lies in Patrick’s unraveling psyche rather than overt gore. The setting of Skag Way acts as a pressure cooker for repressed memories, making the psychological tension palpable. However, readers seeking fast-paced action or clear supernatural explanations may find the ambiguity frustrating. It is best suited for those who appreciate subtle, lingering dread and character studies over plot-heavy thrills. Those expecting traditional ghost story tropes might feel underserved by the focus on internal conflict.
