Been meaning to get this one for a while. Read it in two sittings; the second one ran past midnight. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. A keeper.
A friend from my book club recommended it. The dread is in the pacing, not in gore, which is exactly how I like it. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Glad I finally picked this up.
Grabbed it for a long flight. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Happy enough with the purchase.
This has been on my wishlist for months. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Gorier than the description lets on, if that matters to you. Recommended with reservations.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. There's real craft in how much is left unsaid. Not a jump-scare book; it gets under the skin and stays there. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
