Forgotten Past delivers a potent mix of supernatural and psychological terror across four distinct narratives. Pankratz excels at establishing immediate stakes, whether through the fiery vengeance of Mary Lou Bell or the chilling scientific hubris of Stephen Delve. The anthology’s strength lies in its variety, shifting seamlessly from time-travel horror to gothic mystery. While some concepts may feel familiar to seasoned genre enthusiasts, the execution remains engaging and focused on atmospheric dread. This collection is best suited for casual horror readers seeking quick, intense thrills or those exploring the roots of modern weird fiction. It captures the essence of classic horror storytelling with clarity and purpose.
