Credenza

Wendy Dalrymple presents Credenza, a work of horror fiction published by Quill & Crow Publishing House in 2025. The narrative centers on Veronica Marquette, a woman accustomed to self-reliance as she manages an online boutique and raises her daughter alone. After the death of her grandmother, Maddie, Veronica transports a cherished credenza from the family home to her own residence. This specific act of moving the furniture triggers the emergence of long-buried family secrets. The story introduces an ancient enemy who arrives with the piece of furniture. This antagonist seeks to claim a lost relic hidden within or associated with the credenza. The object represents significance far beyond Veronica’s initial understanding of her inheritance. The plot relies on the tension between domestic routine and supernatural intrusion. Readers interested in gothic atmospheres and family curses will find this tale compelling. Those seeking lighthearted contemporary romance may prefer other titles. The narrative does not offer easy resolutions or clear explanations for the supernatural elements. Dalrymple constructs a story where the boundary between personal grief and external threat blurs. The credenza acts as a conduit for past transgressions to surface in the present. The text explores how inherited objects carry emotional weight that can manifest physically. Veronica must confront the entity while managing her daily responsibilities. The book suits fans of slow-burn horror who appreciate detailed character studies. It avoids rapid pacing in favor of atmospheric dread. The ending leaves the nature of the relic ambiguous, focusing instead on the cost of possession.
