After Midnight

Allan Leverone returns with After Midnight, continuing the saga of Caitlyn Connelly and her encounter with Milo Cain. Six months prior, Caitlyn faced Mr. Midnight in Boston, defending herself against her disfigured twin brother. This act left him comatose in a prison hospital, appearing helpless to doctors and officials. He is not. The brain injury has altered his mind, making him more deadly while expanding his hunting grounds. Armed with shocking abilities and a perfect alibi, he wakes to even the score with the sister who hates him most. Caitlyn believed her nightmare ended. It has only begun. Leverone crafts a chilling villain described as unforgiving, intelligent, and ingenious by critics. This monster embodies what nightmares are made of. The narrative focuses on the psychological terror of a killer who cannot be contained by physical paralysis. Readers seeking visceral horror will find this tale compelling. Those preferring gentle domestic fiction should look elsewhere. The story draws on gothic traditions of twin duality and supernatural retribution. It remains grounded in the urban landscape of Boston, where the hunt resumes. Leverone qualifies as a master of modern chilling villains through his previous work in the Mr. Midnight series. The book suits fans of intense psychological thrillers and supernatural horror. It does not suit readers who avoid depictions of brutal attacks or comatose killers plotting revenge.
