Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Happy enough with the purchase.
First order from this shop. A few scenes I will not forget, whether I want to or not. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. Great value for what you get.
Took a chance on it after reading the description here. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with.
Added this to the shelf next to the ones I reread. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real.
Finished it over a stormy weekend, which helped. It leans on old gothic bones and makes them creak convincingly. The prose is clean and the scares land because the characters feel real. Five stars from me.
Been meaning to get this one for a while. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks. The cover feels thinner than expected. Still worth having on the shelf.
