⭐ Reader reviews
Reader rating
Richard Kadrey crafts a high-energy supernatural thrill ride anchored by the defiant antihero James Stark, a nephilim possessing both human and angelic traits. The narrative excels at combining gritty urban settings with cosmic-scale chaos, pitting Stark against terrifying ancient deities and a ruthless serial killer terrorizing Los Angeles. The book leans heavily into a dark, irreverent tone, making it ideal for fans of supernatural action and antihero-driven urban fantasy. While it avoids conventional mysteries in favor of sprawling, world-ending conspiracies spanning multiple realms, it rewards readers looking for an unapologetically aggressive protagonist fighting impossible odds against enemies he despises.
