The Highway West

Jason Andrew presents a narrative centered on Nathan Carver, who must confront his family's supernatural inheritance as he prepares to leave his hometown for college. The story begins eighteen years after his father, Bill Carver, sacrificed his magical abilities to save his son, a decision that ultimately cost him his life. Now, Nathan’s uncle, Marty, returns to fulfill a sacred promise by guiding the young man on a spiritual road trip across the country known as the Highway West. Nathan possesses a rare and dangerous talent: he can maintain the Great Barrier, a mystical shield protecting the world from the ancient horrors of the universe called the Old Ones. This legacy makes him a target for those who wish to control him and others who want to murder him. The plot follows Nathan and Marty as they travel together, revealing his father's magical history while evading those who seek to exploit or destroy Nathan’s power. The narrative draws on themes of familial duty, the burden of inherited magic, and the threat of cosmic entities. This book suits readers interested in urban fantasy and supernatural road trip narratives where family secrets drive the plot. It may not appeal to those seeking traditional horror or standalone mysteries without a serialized magical system. Andrew’s work focuses on the tension between personal ambition and ancestral obligation, grounding high-stakes magical conflict in the reality of a cross-country journey.
