Long ago, winged creatures fought each other in a war which claimed entire worlds. Today, those creatures, wingless and earthbound, exist among humans, living human lives, and using mortals for their own ends. Teryl Gray, bartender at the Angels' Share, has discovered her boss is one of these creatures. And now he's sent her to a haunted house for no real purpose she can see.
