A half-demon witch hunts an escaped hell-spirit to save her daughter's soul.
Eve Levine operates as a black witch in the afterlife, seeking connection with her deceased daughter. The Fates intervene to demand repayment of a favor by assigning her a lethal task. She must track the Nix, a spirit that incites violence and feeds on death. This entity has already caused madness among those who tried to stop it. Eve lacks the divine weaponry required for the job, specifically an angel's sword. Her demonic heritage complicates this requirement. The narrative follows her struggle against a powerful adversary while managing her own unresolved grief. Armstrong frames this as a quest driven by maternal love rather than mere duty.
This work sits within the urban fantasy genre, blending traditional witchcraft with modern supernatural elements. It draws on concepts of Hell, angels, and the Fates from Western mythological traditions. The narrative reflects contemporary interests in complex moral landscapes and non-traditional family structures.

⭐ Reader reviews
Reader rating
Armstrong effectively merges supernatural lore with deep emotional stakes, creating a narrative where the hunt is as much about internal healing as external victory. The concept of a half-demon witch required to wield angelic weaponry offers fresh tension in a crowded market. While the premise relies on familiar urban fantasy tropes, the focus on maternal grief elevates the material beyond standard genre fare. This book suits readers who prefer character-driven plots over intricate world-building exercises. It delivers a coherent mystery wrapped in horror elements, appealing to those who appreciate strong female leads navigating complex moral landscapes with resilience and determination.
