Horror desk
While visually striking due to Chadbourne’s contributions, this book is strictly a retrospective archive rather than a standard calendar or narrative collection. It lacks new fictional content, making it unsuitable for readers seeking daily scheduling tools or fresh storytelling. The format is dense with historical data and images, which may feel static to those expecting traditional literary engagement. It is best suited for serious collectors of King’s memorabilia who value the visual record of his tours. Those looking for a functional diary or standard horror fiction will find this offering less appropriate for their immediate needs.

Good addition to the shelf

Grabbed it for a long flight. Slow burn, but the burn is the point. It pairs well with the classics it is clearly in conversation with. The cover feels thinner than expected. Recommended with reservations.

A modern classic

Got it as a gift for a friend who loves the genre. The setting is practically a character, and a hostile one. Genuinely unsettling in places, and it earns it without cheap tricks.

Genuinely scary

I read a lot of horror and I'm picky. The audiobook crowd will want the paper copy for the margins. The ending is bleak and honest, not a twist for the sake of one. Five stars from me.

Needed a good scare and got one. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. The binding held up to being carried around for a week. Good, with the caveats above.

Good addition to the shelf

Was skeptical at first. Good introduction if you have not read this author before. The monster is scarier for how little you see of it. A couple of the side characters are thinly drawn. Still worth having on the shelf.
